A Systematic Review of Tele-cognitive Rehabilitation in Patients with Acquired Brain Injury

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect and intervention in tele-cognitive rehabilitation for ABI patients.

Methods: The databases PubMed, ScienceDirect and EMBASE were searched byusing key terms ¡°tele-cognitive rehabilitation¡±, ¡°on-line cognitive training¡± between January 2000 and July 2015. 11 articles were selected for this review.

Result: 10 studies(90.9%) showed an improvement in cognitive function. 5 studies was compared tele-cognitive therapy and conventional cognitive therapy. 4 of 5 studies was no significant difference. The desktop PC and video-conferencing program were used most often to provide tele-cognitive rehabilitation. It is appropriate for therapist to progress and control treatment with real-time monitor.

Conclusion: Tele-cognitive rehabilitation is effective for ABI patients, has good accessibility using usual equipments. Therefore, we will need to study for effective tele-cognitive rehabilitation and development programs that can be applied.
